Boys Swim & Dive take 2nd at Metro Championships!

Congratulations to Coach Brenda Tomtan and the Boys Swim & Dive Team who took 2nd place at the Metro Championships and won the Metro League Sportsmanship Award February 3-4, 2023 in Snohomish, WA!

Of the 29 swimmers who swam in the championships, fifteen qualified for the finals Saturday evening, and earned Roosevelt a 513.5 point 2nd place finish!

WIAA STUDENT ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - KYLE VU

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) and Gesa Credit Union selected Roosevelt's own KYLE VU as the WIAA/Gesa Credit Union Athlete of the Week (week 16 - January 5, 2023)! This award is designed to honor student-athletes across the state for their outstanding performances and impactful contributions in their communities. Swim & Dive practices begin November 14, 2022!

SWIM

  • PRACTICE SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 6:45-8am at Evans Pool (@ Green Lake) Evans Pool 7201 East Green Lake Dr N, Seattle, WA 98115
  • No practice on 12/26/22 and 1/2/23
  • Regular Season runs November 14, 2022 - January 27, 2023
  • Championship Season: January 30 - February 18, 2023
  • Dual Meets take place Friday afternoons at various City pools (see schedule in the calendar below or HERE)
  • First Dual Meet = December 2, 2022 vs. Lincoln @  Queen Anne Pool - 4pm start!

DIVE

  • PRACTICE SCHEDULE @ Queen Anne Pool 1920 1st Ave W., Seattle, WA 98119 - Mondays @ 8-9:30pm(thru 12/31/22) and 8:30-10pm(after 1/1/23), Wednesdays @ 3-4 pm, and Saturdays @ 8:30-11:00am

equipment/uniforms

Swimmers will need to provide their own swim suit, goggles, towels for practice. Swim caps will be available as soon as they arrive for the season.  Team suits are available for purchase.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

We need your help!  There are many volunteer opportunities available - especially at home swim meets! Most jobs require little or NO prior training. Stay tuned for the Sign Up email! 

MEET COACH BRENDA

Head Coach Brenda previously lead both the Roosevelt girls and boys swim teams from 2013-2019. She returned to coach the Boys team in 2021-22 and the Girls in 2022-23 swim seasons. She has coached at a variety of levels, high school; club; masters; and recreational teams in Washington, Nevada and Florida for 25 years, leading teams to HS State Championship Titles as well as team rankings in the top eight at State meets.

She grew up in Seattle, beginning competitively swimming at 6-years-old, was a 4-year letter recipient at Roosevelt and a club swimmer. She continued swimming and competing at the master’s swim team level and is excited to return to coaching the Roosevelt Girls team and sharing her love for the sport. Coach Brenda is also a Special Education Teacher at Roosevelt, Studio Manager at Barre3 Seattle, and a mother of 3.

"I am excited about the season and am looking forward to getting to know each of you and being a part of your high school swimming experience. I anticipate a motivating season full of energy, hard work and fun!!! My goal is to provide you all with the opportunities to push yourselves and to develop as swimmers, student-athletes and as well-rounded individuals. What you put into this season is what you will get out of it!! This is your time to give each practice and race your best and learn from every opportunity that comes your way. Let’s have a great season!!!"

RIDERS FASTPITCH WIN METRO'S FOR THIRD YEAR IN A ROW!

Congrats to the Roosevelt Fastpitch Softball team for winning the Metro League Championships on May 12th. The team beat Garfield 4-2 and is the # 1 seed heading into the district SeaKing Tournament. 

Click here for the District bracket and come support the girls! Their first game is Wednesday, May 17th at 5:30pm. The game will be at the Southwest Athletic Complex in West Seattle.

RHS Varsity Gx Ultimate Frisbee Currently Ranked #1 in the Nation!

The RHS Varsity Gx Program is currently ranked #1 in the nation! In addition to their current 5-1 season record, the team was proud to bring home the Seattle Invite trophy, where they played undefeated in six intense tournament games, just before Spring Break. The Seattle Invite tournament showcases teams from Washington, Oregon, Utah, and more. Come cheer on your team as they go into SPS and then State Playoffs in early to mid-May! The first play-off game is on Thursday, May 4, time and opponent to be announced!

Spring Pint Night is Monday, May 1st - 7-9pm

When purchasing a ticket, select General Booster Fund in the "sport" menu, AND type Pint Night in "Notes". Enter $45 in "donation amount", come, drink beer, and have fun!

All proceeds from Pint Night will go to the Roosevelt Athletic Booster Club, which funds a portion of the school's on-site Athletic Trainer and helps teams pay for uniforms, equipment, facility fees, and other needs.
