WELCOME TO RHS FOOTBALL!

Roosevelt Football is a fall no-cut sport where teams are broken down into Varsity, Junior Varsity, (sometimes JVC) and Freshman levels. We are highly competitive in the Sound Division of the Metro League where most recently, 24 of the 2021-2022 Varsity players were named to the All-Metro 1st or 2nd teams, or received Honorable Mentions in one or more positions!

Registration typically starts in May, followed by optional, but highly recommended, summer conditioning sessions. August is a busy and fun month for the team filled with mandatory practices (sometimes two-a-days) starting in mid-August, team picture day, and our inner-squad Green & Gold game. Our first game typically is scheduled the first week of school. Please see the 2022 Fall Football Calendar HERE.

For more information about the team, please visit our team website at roughridersfb.org OR contact Coach Sherlock at rpsherlock@seattleschools.org.

In preparation for practices, please plan to outfit your player in TEAM COLORS ONLY - Green, Gold, Gray, White, or Black clothing and cleats , please.  If you or your player need help with this, please contact Coach Sherlock.

TEAM RULES

Players are expected to maintain great effort, a positive attitude, and a willingness to live by our three team rules:

  1. TEAM FIRST
  2. ALWAYS COMPETE
  3. NO EXCUSES

Game Day Expectations

  • Show respect to the opponent as they are involved in the same game day experience
  • Be role models of appropriate behavior, poise, and confidence (be in control of your emotions, avoid derogatory comments)
  • Accept judgments of the officials and coaches (it’s not easy, but criticism rarely helps and often worsens the situation)
  • Accept the results of each game; do not make excuses
  • Keep perspective in both victory and defeat – win and lose with class
  • Dignify mistakes made by athletes; they are giving their best effort and concentration
  • Cheer for OUR TEAM LOUD and PROUD!
